Between the months of August and October of 2020, I worked diligently to identify an area of need that I could focus my capstone work on for the rest of the year.
I identified a problem statement that drove my work: EML students at HTMNC are disproportionately represented on D/F lists and in summer enrichment referrals. I conducted research to understand this problem better and collected many of my sources in the Annotated Bibliography linked here and to the image to the left. I developed two aims to address this problem: (1) By May 2021, teachers at HTMNC will report an increased sense of efficacy and feeling of confidence in their support and teaching of EML students. (2) By May 2021, at least 80% of EML students at HTMNC will make progress towards one or more of their individualized EML language development goals. To begin planning my action to achieve these aims, I created a "Theory of Action" that is linked here and to the left. |
